Transportation & Logistics: Canada Line

During the construction of the Canada Line rapid transit project, we were commissioned for our expertise on seven projects, including remediation of several contaminated sites along the Cambie corridor in Vancouver and the No. 3 Road corridor in Richmond. We were also asked to give our second opinion on some of the more problematic sites.

Over a period of five years, our environmental consultants carried out investigations and remediation of several sites, including two historic service stations, two former metal fabricators, an abandoned diesel Underground Storage Tank, contaminated fill and a former dry cleaning business. We also completed site investigations for land transactions and helped our client negotiate the sale of various sites prior to remediation and obtaining a CoC.

Our work resulted in six CoCs for remediated properties and two Determinations for sites that were not contaminated. It also allowed for unimpeded construction of the Canada Line’s King Edward Station in Vancouver. Our detailed approach to investigation, environmental remediation services, and familiarity with Ministry processes allowed our client to turn several environmental liabilities into desirable development properties.
