Dr Harm P Gross

Dr. Harm Gross specializes in solving environmental problems, from the smallest to the largest, for business people. He does this by providing the critical thinking and expertise needed to properly interpret and manage regulatory and technical challenges. This service is a natural outgrowth of education and experience at some of the best universities and business training grounds in the world.

Dr. Harm Gross was awarded his doctorate from the University of Oxford, England prior to pursuing a 5- year university career in Germany and Canada. He later developed an interest in expanding his career by overlaying his scientific background with an understanding of the business world and received his MBA (Finance) from the University of British Columbia. He then spent the following 10 years in banking and business development in Asia and Canada. He is currently a Registered Professional Biologist (R.P.Bio) and an Approved Professional of the Contaminated SitesApproved Professionals Society (CSAP Society) and has a wealth of experience obtaining Ministry Instruments and other environmental certifications for NEXT’s Clients.

His main passion is ensuring that his clients receive the best advice for their business objectives, and in so doing, his success is measured by how well he has protected their interests.

Shane Rigter

Generally the main point of contact throughout the lifecycle of a project, Shane acts as the conduit between our Clients and the team at NEXT Environmental, working to distill the constantly evolving rules and regulations in a business-centric, easy to-understand way. As Senior Business Development Manager, Shane is involved in amplifying NEXT’s market presence, expanding its service offering and territory, developing and maintaining Client relationships, educating his COIs on how to mitigate risk, and delivering value to every project.

Bernard Loh

As a Business Development Manager, Bernard is one of the main points of contact with clients at NEXT. Bernard’s role is to assist clients in understanding what their environmental liabilities are on their site in a way they can understand. As the Business Development Manager, Bernard is heavily involved in strengthening NEXT’s market presence and expanding NEXT brand to companies and people that have never heard or used NEXT.

Crystal Froesher

Crystal joined NEXT in 2019 and is a registered Geoscientist-in-Training (GIT) with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC). As a Project Coordinator, she is responsible for a broad range of tasks, including resource allocation, scheduling, and the coordination of field activities to ensure project timelines and objectives are met efficiently.

Since joining the team, Crystal has contributed to hundreds of projects, applying her expertise in report writing, field data collection, permitting processes, and hydrogeology. Her role extends beyond coordination; she plays a key part in reviewing technical reports for accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards, as well as providing oversight during field operations to ensure quality control and adherence to safety protocols. Crystal’s comprehensive involvement ensures seamless project execution from planning through to completion.

Michael Muttersbach

Mr. Michael Muttersbach is a Registered Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) and BC Ministry of Environment Contaminated Sites Approved Professional (CSAP) with more than 25 years’ experience in the field of contaminated site investigation and remediation, ranging from field worker to project manager, client and regulatory liaison, senior reviewer, and trainer/mentor of junior personnel. He has extensive experience interpreting and applying provincial and federal regulations and standards for a variety of industrial and commercial sites in various settings.

Mr. Muttersbach is responsible for all submissions, such as Certificates of Compliance, Determinations, Releases, and Pre-approvals made to the Ministry of Environment on behalf of NEXT’s clients. He reviews work plans, findings and interpretations, and conclusions to ensure that all work meets Ministry requirements and provides the information required to pursue submissions to the Ministry.

Mr. Muttersbach oversees the applications made by in-house CSAPs and has also made multiple applications as a CSAP himself, successfully obtaining Certificates of Compliance and Determinations Mr. Muttersbach works with all levels of NEXT’s staff, from junior investigators to inhouse and outside partner Approved Professionals, providing guidance and direction, and exploring options and opportunities afforded by the regulatory environment. Jeroen Wauters

Mr. Jeroen Wauters is Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registered in BC and Alberta, and an Approved Professional of the BC Contaminated Sites Approved Professionals Society (CSAP Society). He obtained a Master of Engineering in Environmental Technologies from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in Belgium. Mr. Jeroen Wauters currently has almost 20 years of experience working in the field of contaminated sites in Western Canada.

As a Senior Technical & Regulatory Lead he is responsible for the design and supervision of complex site investigations and remediation projects. Mr. Jeroen Wauters is also responsible for the technical performance and management of environmental human health and ecological risk assessments. Starting from a client’s business goals his technical and regulatory expertise allows residential, commercial and industrial clients to manage environmental liabilities, achieve regulatory compliance by obtaining a Certificate of Compliance and make decisions regarding property transactions.

Chris Steele

Chris joined NEXT in January 2022 and has been a consultant in the contaminated sites industry since 2016. Through the years he has worked on hundreds of projects serving a wide client base including private property owners, real estate agents, lenders, property developers, large crown corporations, and international energy sector clients. His role sees him generating and executing scopes of work to meet client’s business and regulatory goals, from initial site investigation through remediation, monitoring, and regulatory applications. He is also responsible for day to day operations at NEXT in tandem with the management team.
Chris is situated in Prince George, BC, and in his free time he can usually be found at a park or relaxing at home with his family.
